Water Fasting

A form of fasting in which only water is consumed — no calories from any source. Water fasting is the strictest form of extended fasting and is typically practised for 24 to 72 hours.

Water fasting removes all calorie intake and forces the body to rely entirely on stored energy. This increases fat use but also requires careful management. Hydration and electrolyte balance become more important as duration increases. It is an advanced approach and should be used with caution.
